Debian
The Debian Project is an association of individuals who
have made common cause to create a free operating system. This
operating system is called Debian GNU/Linux, or simply Debian for
short. Debian systems currently use the Linux kernel. Of course, the
thing that people want is application software: programs to help them
get what they want to do done, from editing documents to running a
business to playing games to writing more software. Debian comes with
over 16000 packages (precompiled software that is bundled up in a nice
format for easy installation on your machine) - all of it free. It's a
bit like a tower. At the base is the kernel. On top of that are all the
basic tools. Next is all the software that you run on the computer. At
the top of the tower is Debian -- carefully organizing and fitting
everything so it all works together. Buy only the amount of CD's you
need. Now with a very user friendly installer in Etch. Ideal for users
without an internet connection or a slow dial up connection. For
intermediate to advanced users.

linuX-gamers
The linuX-gamers.net project has announced the
release of linuX-gamers live DVD 0.9.4, an Arch Linux-based
distribution with a collection of popular 3D games, including BzFLag,
Enemy Territory, Glest, Nexuiz, Sauerbraten, Torcs, Tremulous, True
Combat: Elite, Warsow and World of Padman.
The project
live.linuX-gamers.net was founded with the idea to present Linux games
at the Linuxtag exhibition in a novel way. A collection of games should
be shown to directly run from DVD without the user in need to know
about Linux or care about his system. After some intense brainstorming
sessions the team decided to create and publish this DVD as a live
distribution project.

MythDora
MythDora 5.0 is here. It's based on Fedora 8 along with
MythTV-0.21. This version is the cleanest, most feature rich and best
tested version. Installing MythDora 5.0 has pretty much stayed the same
as the previous version so there shouldn't be to many surprises. You
can still install the same way as before using Custom or Auto with
Custom being the preferred method.
As mentioned the recommended
install is a Custom install. This will allow you the best choices and
customization for your install. There is also the auto install feature.
For Newbies
this maybe the easiest way to set things up. This WILL wipe
out your 1st hard drive but not others, so you have been warned. Please
keep in mind that an Auto install only gives you default settings and
NO NETWORK so you will have to setup networking before you get to
mythtvsetup if you want your listings. You can however come back to it
later though. We've customized the Anaconda installer to make a custom
install very easy. Just be sure to look through the menu choices to
install any drivers and/or packages you might need.

UBCD
You need the Ultimate Boot CD if you want to:
Run
floppy-based diagnostic tools from CDROM drives. More and more PCs are
shipped without floppy drives these days, and it is such a royal pain
when you need to run diagnostic tools on them.
Free yourself
from the slow loading speed of the floppy drive. Even if you do have a
floppy drive, it is still much much faster to run your diagnostic tools
from the CDROM drive, rather than wait for the tool to load from the
floppy drive.
Consolidate as many diagnostic tools as possible
into one bootable CD. Wouldn't you like to avoid digging into the dusty
box to look for the right floppy disk, but simply run them all from a
single CD? Then the Ultimate Boot CD is for you!
When you boot
up from the CD, a text-based menu will be displayed, and you will be
able to select the tool you want to run. The selected tool actually
boots off a virtual floppy disk created in memory.
Hard disk,
file system, anti-virus, memory test, CPU test, partition tools are
some of the utliities included as well as a Live CD.

The Vole wants to
discredit open source because it's a real threat to
their business model and revenue. One
option is to use their deep pockets to "sponsor" floss companies so
nobody else can compete economically with them. Effect is to kill off
anybody else providing similar services. This way there is no
